    Hello,

I’m encountering a critical error on my WordPress website when the Yoast SEO plugin is active. The issue occurs immediately after I change the theme, even when using default WordPress themes (like Twenty Twenty-Four or Storefront, etc…).

The error message shown on the site is:

“There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

However, I am not receiving any recovery email. This steps I’ve already taken:

    • I deactivated all other plugins and activated only Yoast SEO.
    • I tested with multiple themes, including default WordPress themes.
    • The error happens consistently when changing themes with only Yoast SEO activated.
    • No recovery email or further debug info is being received.

    Site Info:

    • WordPress version: 6.8.2
    • Yoast SEO version: 25.9
    • PHP version: 8.3
    • Themes tested: Twenty Twenty-Four, Storefront, etc…

Please let me know how I can resolve this issue?

    Hello @anish9947,

I’m sorry about your experience. The server error logs usually provide more details about the issue. If you have access to your server error log, note the date and time before generating the error again. Then, immediately check your server error log for any errors during that period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, please ask your hosting provider to look for you.

If you or your web host cannot pinpoint the cause, please provide us with a copy of the server error log for further investigation. As server logs can cover a significant amount of time, please limit the error log to a few minutes before and after the behavior was reproduced.

If the server error log does not contain any errors at the time of the issue, please enable advanced WordPress debugging with the code here. This code requires that you change line 84 to point to a path on your server. Your web host can provide you with a secure path to save the error.log file.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the reply.

I think this issue is only for your plugin because when I deactivate all other plugins the issue is showing but when I deactivate your plugin the issue is not showing.

    Kindly please resolve the issue.

Due to the nature of the issue, we’ll need to take a look at your setup. However, we are unable to do it here as this is a public forum. You could consider purchasing a Yoast SEO Premium subscription since it comes with email support. Then we can investigate the issue further directly on your setup privately.
