WordPress Connection Info When On MAMP

    I am trying to delete/install plugins on wordpress 2.9.2 that is running on MAMP 1.9, but it keeps giving the error “There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct.” It asks for hostname, username, password, and connection type. I was wondering what to put in those boxes. I have a PPC Mac running Leopard if that matters.
    I am connected to the internet so that is not the problem. I am using Apache port 80 and MySQL port 8889, and it says both servers are working. If i cannot install them directly, would I be able to download them and just drag and drop into /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins?
