• i have yet to back up my site (bad i know) however there is an option within my wordpress site to backup or export (can’t remember which one it was) and i did choose it about a week ago. My site is currently not working because of an editing error. I’m in need of uploading my theme functions.php file to my server. I’d rather use one from last week, if it was backed up vs the original file (to minimize what i lose). does anyone know where i can find the files from the backup/export? and would it include the functions.php file? thank you

It all entirely depends on which method you used.

The only method built into WordPress is at Tools -> Export, and that’s only the post/page/comment content. It doesn’t contain your theme files or even uploaded images, it’s just made for transferring content from one site to the other.

you guys answer so quickly, thank you!
that must have been what i did. rats so i’ll have to use the original theme functions.php to solve the error code i’m seeing now. ok thank you! (btw where do i find that content that tools>export extracts?)
    thank you!

Tools -> Export immediately triggers a download of the file in your browser, so it would be wherever you placed that file, or wherever your browser downloads files to.

See https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups for additional (far more complete) backup methods.
