    Would anyone give me hints on how to set up wordpress as a website for a conference? In particular, how to add many fields, say degree, position, etc, for one to fill out when he/she is registering for the conference?

  • Take a look at some of the WordCamp websites, they are all powered by WordPress and might give you some good ideas.

    Most of the WordCamp sites don’t mess with event registration themselves, they use EventBrite. A third party service like EventBrite would remove a lot of the headaches, since it can handle the registration, payment, and even promotion since it hooks into all the social networks.
