    Hi there,

Can anyone explain why within the WordPress app under Settings / General the Privacy option keeps automatically changing to Hidden? I’m not changing it but when I open the Settings option it is displayed on Hidden and I have to manually change it to Public.

I don’t believe – as far as I know – that I am selecting this on the desktop version.

    Confused!

Many thanks for any help. I definitely don’t want my site hidden.

WordPress itself cannot reset that option. The only way it could be reset (apart from being changed manually) is if it was changed by a plugin or an older copy of the database was restored on your hosts. Right now, that setting appears to be set to Public (ie indexable by search engines).

Thanks very much, Esmi. I’ve had all sorts of drama with the site and traffic to the blog is about 2% of what is used to be! I wonder now if this is the cause. Do you think I should take any further action on this – other than checking the app stays to Public/indexable?

In your shoes, I’d be looking at issues like page loading times, checking to see if the site is mobile-friendly and generally ensuring that I was adding well formatted, quality, content regularly.

Thanks, Esmi, much appreciated. I’m happy with the page loading times and mobile friendliness – I just need to write posts more frequently!
