• I look after the club website and built some pages with a calendar and payment system. I had them tested and all good.
Since the version 5 update its all gone wrong – lost the Options menu adding pages, only Admin can now see the pages I built despite not only Admin ticked on those pages and the front page menu has decided to spread itself horizontally across the menu bar.
How do I push back the WordPress update and stop further ones happening automatically?
This is going to cost us money to get it all fixed and don’t want that occurring every update?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • You can use the plugin WP Downgrade to get back to version 4.9.9 (which is 4.9.8 with the recent security fix).
The major releases change things. The minor releases fix things. Only minor releases are on auto-update. But the minor update for 5.0.1 was a security release, so it was backported all the way back to 3.7 (that’s why there is 4.9.9 and 3.7.29, etc.) It had an unavoidable breaking change that some plugins are now having to fix.

If your site broke with 5.0, it could be your theme or plugins that aren’t compatible with the new editor. (not sure how that would translate to your menu and page problems)
If you didn’t update until the 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 release, then it could be the security fix breaking things.
