    This is the occasional error my website is getting ever since 5.5 was released… what is going on?

    WP servers can be somewhat overloaded during new releases, leading to strange behavior. Usually this abates after a couple days. If you are still experiencing errors at this point there could be something else wrong. I can assure you the *.wordpress.org SSL certificate is signed and valid through 12/15/20 at which point it will auto-renew.
