    Using the: Twenty Fourteen Theme

    I’ve been noticing a bug that it seems that the “Continue Reading” feature will sometimes work and display, and sometimes it won’t. I am aware it won’t when the article doesn’t have much text, so there is no need for it, but in this bug report, this isn’t the case.

    I think the Continue Reading feature will sometimes drop in a part where it may be within the following HTML syntax:

    <!-- -->

    So if it happens to fall into that area, of course it will be invisible, plus also screw up some of my articles on my site. And what I mean is that some articles will disappear from the site — even though they exist on my admin panel.

    I think the problem is the BLOCKS feature when writing up articles. It will automate you to use the following when pasting or posting videos, images, paragraphs, and etc. At the start and end of each of those BLOCKS you find the following:

    <!-- wp:paragraph -->
    <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
    <!-- wp:heading -->
    <!-- /wp:heading -->

    So if the “Continue Reading” feature would try to land within those properties it of course would be invisible and etc.

    Here are some screenshots from my own site where it shows the issue on hand — Oh, it seems I don’t have the ability to attach screenshots… — Sorry…

    Here is something you can test on your own site.

    <!-- wp:paragraph -->
    <p><strong>Summary</strong>: Architecture is a fascinating career option for students who wish to use their creativity and imaginative skills in building a wonderful structure. </p>
    <!-- /wp:paragraph -->

    <!-- wp:paragraph -->
    <p>There are many good opportunities in terms of jobs for the students pursuing architecture studies in related fields like structural engineering and interior designing as well.</p>
    <!-- /wp:paragraph -->

    <!-- wp:paragraph -->
    <p>Architecture is a vast field that offers lots of growth opportunities to students who wish to pursue a career in this field. Most of the architects are trained in different areas which gives them a wide scope to pursue careers across various field that are closely related to their profession. It all depends on their creative skills and their area of interest to get success from this profession.</p>
    <!-- /wp:paragraph -->

    Give it whatever title you want (I don’t think the bug is with a title) and then see it on your main site, to see that there should be a Continue Reading after “as well” after the 2nd paragraph, but it doesn’t show that.

    P.S. I wish there was a way to preview the post before submitting, just in case the marks above are correct using the code and bold buttons…

    If you’re using the Block Editor, make sure that you use the new More Block, not the old more tag: https://wordpress.org/support/article/more-block/

    Sorry, I goofed. The problem is not WordPress, but an old theme plugin that I was using: Fourteen Extended — Once I disabled that, of course WordPress does not add the excerpt automatically to my articles.

    UPDATE:

    Another issue I was able to troubleshoot is why some posts were invisible.

    Well, if you use Adblock Plus and you have the tag: Social and you’ve tagged a few articles (posts) on WordPress with that tag, they will not show until you either disable Adblock Plus or remove that tag from the article.

    I decided to delete the tag: Social — so I no longer have to deal with that issue.
