I am having same issues, backend of wordpress is now crashing.. and getting weird disconnected errors and publish to social networks in jetpack are having issues telling me to refresh .. about to scrap site Need help!! 4.3.1 has totally screwed my website!!! tried removing plugins.. no help.. really slow and fails to access sometimes… i have a 2cpu4gb ram server so that’s not the issue other services on server works fine..
I’ve been having the same issue since 4.* but I can’t tell if it’s a database issue or a network issue but I believe it’s a network issue due to my service provider which is AT&T.
I thought was Network issue at first, but it’s a hosted server on 10gb connected, and i am getting weird errors with jetpack telling me connection to facebook/twitter etc needs refreshing… very very odd behaviour atm..thinking about pissing wordpress off altogether and finding something else
Well, I reinstalled my all website again. But in the process here’s what happened :
1. When trying to install a theme (a theme I bought) through the dashboard I have a failure : Safari or Firefox hangs and then a white page is showing. Even waiting a long time doesn’t do anything.
2. When trying to install plugins using the dashboard again : Same thing.
3. This morning I tried to load a demo content of my theme using the wordpress import : Same thing, but letting this white page a long time actually made it happened.
It looks like something is totally unstable or not working properly in the dashboard.
It also takes ages when clicking on a link on the menu bar.
If somebody with knowledge around it would be so kind to look at it, This would make my life bright and happy 🙂 No no, I am not a geek 🙂
And more important perhaps : Is there a way to implement a status bar : Let’s say when you need to wait for something to happen : Like loading a plugin or a theme etc. Just to know if you have to wait or if the system is crashed. Because this white page on the browser looks like nothing happens and also like the operation has crashed. Which was not the case this morning when I loaded my demo content. I hope I was not to long in my explanations. Thanks ! And thanks to the wordpress guys, you’re doing a groovy work ! . Eric
@ericchabane , Hi! Thank you for writing.
Please try the following temporary steps to troubleshoot:
- Switch to the Twenty Fifteen theme
- Deactivate all of your plugins, no exceptions
- Clear your browser’s cache and cookies
- Re-login and visit the post editor
Do you still get the everything-takes-ages problem when you do that?
Let me know how you go!
Having the same problem: slow dashboard.
I thought the RSS Error might be the culprit. Searched: “WP HTTP Error: Resolving timed out after 10520 milliseconds,” which took me here:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/dashboard-issues-rss-error-wp-http-error-name-lookup-timed-out, where member ashiado says he solved the problem.
ashiado: Finally SOLVED by installing the Core Control plugin and then following the directions here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/231500?replies=12#post-1168609
Now go to this page and look for CarltonBale for directions.
My dashboard is really fast after I get into it. Everything is fast except the Themes.
Regards.
I agree, my blog is also slower than ever. But it seems the cache or so cleans after a few page loads (both front and back-end).
Edit: Now faster than ever.
I just now “Disabled Transport” link in for CURL under the external HTTP access. Now everything is flying. Awesome!!
+1 🙂 even faster than before (but I didn’t touch curl)
