Wordfence Tools – Live Traffic

    Good day,

    I received tons of Increased Attack Rate – Alerts. When checking the WordFence Live Traffic tool the visited page URL starts with a completely different domain which is not our site. What kind of attack is that and is it normal to see a page that is not on our domain?

    Hi @ps07hc, thanks for getting in touch.

    The website listed under the logs is the referrer, so the site you’re seeing there is directing its traffic to your site. This is normal to see but may not be desirable to continue seeing.

    You can choose to block this if you wish by following these steps:

    1. Go to Wordfence > Firewall > Blocking
    2. Create a Blocking Rule > Custom Pattern
    3. Enter *thewebsite.com* for referrer (substitute for the address you’re seeing)
    4. Enter any block reason
    5. Click “Block visitors matching this pattern“
