    Hi,

    I just installed Wrodfence plugging and the scan doesn’t seem to work. There is an error message in,

    Tool>diagnostics> Connectivity Ability to connect to the Wordfence servers and your own site. >Under “Connecting back to this site”

    wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: 401 Unauthorized
    This additional info may help you diagnose the issue. The response headers we received were:

    HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized
    Date: Wed, 13 May 2020 07:55:14 GMT
    Server: Apache
    WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm=”Human Check – U: human P: human”
    Content-Length: 23
    Connection: close
    Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

    Authentication required

    I’m not a programmer. Anyone knows how to fix this please???

    It looks like that when Wordfence tries to access your site, it is being asked for authentication. Do you have something blocking visits to the site or confirming authentication on the front-end, such as a captcha of any sort?

    Hi Scott,
    Thank you for getting back quick and please excuse my programming knowledge. I don’t have any security plugging except for wordpress at the moment. so, I don’t think I have anything that blocks visits. The reason I’m trying wordfence scan is that my site has been hacked google says. so, I have to clear is from any Malware/Phishing activities.

    Wordpress login page access is secured using htpassword right? Can it be the case???

    Hi Scott,
    Thanks again for your quick reply earlier. I disabled both htpassword and human authentication step. Now the scan works.
