Recently, we have had an influx of requests by a single IP that results in thousands of 404 responses per 5 minutes (up to 8K), WordFence has not identified this as a potential attack and blocked the IP. Should it not identify the IP as an attack and thus block it?

Hi @instantclassic

The firewall does not automatically block IP addresses that generate 404 Not Found responses as no malicious requests are being sent in an attempt to compromise your file system or database. You can use the Rate Limiting rules instead:
