    Hi everyone,

I am trying to set up taxes by city. When I add cities in the standard tax rates and I type in the city on the cart for the buyers address, it doesn’t show any tax in the checkout for that typed city. If I were to use state and leave an asterisk for city and zip it works for the state. How do I get the tax to show/update on the checkout page if the typed city matches a standard tax rate table?

    Thanks.

  • Hi @blupointmedia,

It should just “work” the way you are describing. Here’s how I have mine set up and it is working for me:

If it’s not working for you, maybe try deactivating all other plugins except WooCommerce and switching to a default theme?

Also make sure that you are setting the address in the right checkout field. If you have Billing & Shipping enabled, it will take the Shipping field.

    Hi Mikey,

Thanks for the response. I will work on disabling plugins to see if this is the issue. I am correct when I say when the user types in a city, for example, in your case Wilmington, it would refresh the checkout total, with AJAX, with the updated tax, correct?

That’s correct, checkout totals will be refreshed when editing the city field by default. Just tested to confirm 🙂
