    Hello,

I use WooCommerce, and for the past few days, some customers have been contacting me after placing an order because of an issue.

The problem is that a customer pays, for example, €100, but the order only contains 2 products instead of the 6 products they ordered.

On the order page, it shows, for example:

    • Product A: €10
    • Product B: €10
    • Order total: €20

However, the payment received is indeed €100.

In the automatic order notes, I can see that all the products were initially reserved. Then, a payment failure appears, followed by a new reservation of all the products. The order is then completed with a PayPal transaction ID, and the stock is reduced. However, at that point, only 2 products have their stock reduced instead of all 6 products.

I am using the latest versions of WordPress and WooCommerce. The payments concerned are processed through the official WooCommerce PayPal Payments plugin.

I have checked, and other payments made through PayPal are processed without any issues. The only common factor I have found appears in the order notes:

“Payer action required, possible overcharge. The payer needs to perform the following action before proceeding with payment. Order status changed from ‘Pending payment’ to ‘Failed’.”

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Do you have any idea what could be causing it or how it can be resolved?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi @trevellfr,

Thanks for the detailed order notes, they point to where this is happening! So the “Payer action required, possibly overcharge” note is added by the WooCommerce PayPal Payments plugin when PayPal asks the customer for an extra step and the plugin retries the payment.

That matches the failed-then-retried sequence you’re seeing, so the PayPal Payments team is best placed to look into why products drop off the order during that retry. Please post it in their support forum:

    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce-paypal-payments/

It will help them if you include the order notes from an affected order, your PayPal Payments version, and the PayPal Payments entries under WooCommerce > Status > Logs from around the time of that order.

    Cheers 🙂
