Woocommerce Featured Product Query

Hi

I have done products export and import to the new development site https://ashisha4.sg-host.com. After importing products and doing some minor changes like category, description …etc. But when I on product page click on few products as featured product (selected few products on clicking stars) it does not show as a featured product.

Pl suggest..

Hi there,

I see on your homepage, you have an “Our Featured Products” section, but no products are being displayed:

I’m guessing you are referring to products you have “starred” on the Products > All Products page that are not showing up there.

I believe that section should be coming from your theme. For example, with the default Storefront theme, the sections on the Storefront homepage (including the “We recommend” section, which shows featured products) are controlled by the homepage template of the theme:

I see you are using the Astra theme on your site, so I would recommend reaching out to their team to ask about that: https://wpastra.com/support/

Thanks, but I think more than any theme this issue link to woocommerce export and import products, if I selected few products ( click on stars in products ) it should get displayed irrespective of themes, but your comments and suggestions are welcome as I am not wordpress hardcore developer.

Hi there,

I agree that choosing the items as featured would make sense to feature them as “Featured products”. However, whether or not they display as part of the page, and how they are displayed depends on the theme code and templates. I see you are also using Elementor on your site as a page builder, which can affect how things are displayed.

After you import the products, and then click the stars on the products to mark them as Featured, do the stars stay marked in the backend (in the list under Products > All Products)?

If you try switching to Storefront and disable Elementor, do you see the featured products listed (if you have the Homepage/Welcome page set to the homepage template)?

Hi

Thanks for your updates and detail mail. I have not understood fully some of the points as I am not an expert like you. In ALL products page I can see stars as featured product still exists. Can you pl suggest how to proceed step by step ?

I am wondering how you know it is Astra theme and using Elementor?

Hi there,

If the products remain marked as Featured in the Products > All Products page, then that would indicate things seem to be working in the backend/DB. The issue is just on the frontend with displaying the featured products, which will be controlled by the theme as mentioned.

Please try the following:

1. Deactivate all plugins aside from WooCommerce
2. Switch your theme to Storefront: https://woocommerce.com/storefront/
3. Make sure your homepage is using the homepage template
4. Check to see if the Feature products are showing in the “We Recommend” section on the homepage (since that is where Storefront displays featured products):

Hi

I have created temporary new site and otherthan storefront and woocommerce not activated any plugins. Then I done export and import products on new site and it is showing featured product

Checked URL https://ashisha5.sg-host.com

Now how can I debug existing site and do not have to redo all work. Pl suggest and thanks for your help.

Hi @paragjp. The best way forward to not have to start from scratch is to do conflict testing as kellymetal suggested above. In additional to the steps that he outlined above, you can find our complete guide, with suggestions of some useful tools to help with testing, here.
