I am using the WooCommerce _visibility hidden custom field to display the visibility status of my products in a column. This worked fine up until WooCommerce 3.0 was released. After upgrading to WooCommerce 3.0, any products created do not show the visibility status in the column. Products added prior to 3.0 still shoes the visibility status.

See https://pasteboard.co/GN8jQnV.jpg for an example of WC 3.0+ products not showing visibility but pre-3.0 products do.

The _visibility field is still selectable in your free plugin. See https://pasteboard.co/GN8kW8E.png

According to WooCommerce technical support, “I was able to confirm that _visibility is not handled the same way. I would get in touch with the developer of that plugin and let them know that they need to find the visibility in a different way.”

Are you going to update the free plugin to account for the change in WooCommerce 3.0+?

    Hi Midihead,

If I’m correct you used our custom field column and selected the _visibility column to make it show up in your admin view. I’m aware of the change that WooCommerce made for the visibility of a product. They now work with taxonomies instead of custom fields if I’m correct but they still use a fallback.

Please understand that our custom field column is an one that fit’s all solution and only works with custom fields. Since your database still contains the old visibility custom fields from the old version of WooCommerce, they still show up in the drop down of the custom field column. But since the new version of WooCommerce doesn’t use this field anymore, it will show nothing in the overview pages.

So there is nothing wrong with the custom field column as it works exactly as expected. We’re not going to build in any WooCommerce support in our core, since we already have a specific WooCommerce integration add-ons where make specific columns like this specifically for WooCommerce. Our integration add-on works with both the WooCommerce V2 and V3 version.
