WMV Upload error for particular user role

Hi,

I am getting the message ‘Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.’ when an Instructor (a custom user role/type) tries to upload a WMV file. Other important file types like png, jpeg, mp4 etc are fine but it is possible other file types are affected.

It appears that the admin user (me) can upload WMV files so it appears that Instructors (and editors/authors etc) are affected.

Is there a reason WMV would have an issue? and why would it matter what the user type is? I know WMV is an ‘out of the box’ WP file type so shouldn’t be a problem.

I have also tried disabling all plugins and reverting to the 2016 theme, but no luck.

I have used define(‘ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS’, true); for these user types and it does fix the issue, but given the security risk this poses, it can only be a temporary solution.
