    If I have already made changes such as customer header codes, colors, etc, will they be saved as the child preserving what I have already done from future updates? Most instructions seem to say may child first then changes.

    CTC gives you the option to copy your parent theme menus, widgets and customizer settings to the child theme. Some premium themes use additional options that cannot be copied with the free version, but for most themes this is all you need.
