wildcard search not working

    Hi lenningrl,

    You found a bug in the wildcard search. While I look for a way to fix it, you can try the following workaround: in your Edit Form page, set the Text Search Mode to SAME.

    Update: I’ve fixed the bug in BP Profile Search 4.4.1.

    I’ve added a third text search mode, the modes are now contains, is and is like. The wildcards are allowed in the last mode only, and they should work as expected.

    OK. So do I understand correctly then that ‘contains’ will be an approximate search, ‘is’ will be an exact search, and ‘is like’ will be an exact search allowing wildcards?

    Yes, exactly. Note that the ‘contains’ search mode is approximate because, if you enter ‘john’ in your search field, the plugin searches for field values that are like ‘%john%’.
