• I just moved hosting for my site to bluehost, and in the move somehow the widgets option disappeared from my Appearance menu in wp-admin. When I go to /wp-admin/widgets.php I get a message, “you do not have sufficient permissions.” In the DB, tho, I am user #1, admin. So I am guessing that in the move somewhere I lost a table in the DB. anyone have any ideas? i can’t figure out where the widgets table/data would have been and I don’t see any diff. between the backup db and the one that is up now

also worth noting all of the old widgets that were in the sidebar before the move are still there. so the data is there, it’s just a matter of accessing it. is there something i can change in my user table to make me MORE of an admin or something?

It is likely the files which are to blame. When moving your site, or installing the new installation, depending on how the move was done, files may not have completed uploading properly.

    Try the following:

Re-upload all the core WordPress files
    Deactivate all plugins
Switch your theme to the twentyten theme: http://wordpress.shadowlantern.com/2009/11/change-wordpress-theme-in-phpmyadmin/

I have the same problem, and i did nothing (no migrating db or moving site to new server).
Madeleine, can you look at your control panel and tell me if the USERS tab is there?
The fact in my problem is that i lost USERS and WIDGETS from my control panel. And when i try to reach from /wp-admin/widgets.php or /users.php i get not permissions page or cheating uh? respectly.
    Regards

I just realize that i lost admin privileges when update WP from 2.9 to 3.01. There is a bug somewhere. I just rollback and all works fine.
    Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
