widgets won’t save

I recently moved my wordpress site from a localhost to a remote server. In the process, something went haywire with the widgets: in addition to losing all text widgets, it also refuses to save changes to widgets–returning a blank page when hitting Save in the Appearance>Widgets window.

I’ve tried resetting the widgets, which blew out all settings (as expected) but didn’t resolve the inability to save state. What’s happened, and how do I fix it? I’m completely stumped at this point.
