Widgets not working
-
Unable to drag and drop text widgets into sidebar. When creating new widget from “available widgets” area, selecting the position and location, then clicking save, I am taken to the homepage and no change has occurred (No new widget I just put the code in for). My url is lifefoodfilm.com. Any help would be appreciated. I can ‘remove’ widgets, they just aren’t ‘adding’ when I select Text widget/insert code/and ‘save’widget

First thing that springs to mind is a plugin conflict. Try disabling all active plugins and then trying to add a widget. If that works you can start the process of elimination by re-enabling a plugin at a time then checking the widget functionality still works until you discover the culprit.
Now the widget is installing, but I only get blue text instead of a banner. Huh? (Is that a problem on my end or from somewhere else?)
Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
– re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.
Maybe this means something: It seems pretty random. Last night one of my widgets was working, and now it’s just the blue text.
can you point to where the banner is?
are you using an absolute file path to the image?
The banner(s) are in the right sidebar, right below chocolate.com.
They are mighty leaf and start_button_weil (Dr weil vitamine advisor), respctively. The HTML I got from Linkshare for Dr Weil was:<IMG border=”0″ alt=”120x60_start_button_weil” src=”http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=W9hbgozhCJ0&bids=211276.10000018&subid=0&type=4&gridnum=6″>
and from comission junction for Mighty Leaf was:
<img src=”http://www.awltovhc.com/image-5702140-10822891″ width=”125″ height=”125″ alt=”MightyLeaf.com” border=”0″/>Would putting banners (And google searchbar)in the editor have cuased this? I think I saw an earlier post somewhere by esmi saying not to edit twenty eleven.
I’ve deactivated all plugins and still have same issue. Now what?
Have tried switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?
I did an experiment. after deactivating the plugins, I successfully put the HTML code from widget position 4 in to position 5 (Chocolate.com; I’ve since undone that). The graphic button showed normally, leading me to believe it was the previous HTML that was the issue (The previous ad code showed up as blue text, but no banner button). My current theme is twenty eleven.
Definitely the code. I went back to linkshare and pasted another product (Britt coffee), and it’s working fine. wierd, man
