Widgets not updating–> Please Help!!!

My widgets displaying on my website do not reflect the widgets activated in my admin panel. Example: I added my own RSS link in the header so naturally want to disable the one present in the sidebar–>something I can not do. I was using v. 2.6 and upgraded successfully to v. 2.6.1. This is not a cache issue because I cleared the cache and do not have any cache plugins enabled. It’s not my theme, because I went back to the default and it’s still happening. It seems like a lot of other people have this problem, but no one has had any success in figuring out what’s going on.
Please Please Help!!
