Just recently, I have been having an issue where some of my widgets, even though they show up in the sidebar of my Twenty Ten theme on the dashboard, don’t show up when going to the actual site. I try refreshing and clearing cache but still….nothing. Any suggestions?

Are these WordPress core widgets (such as Recent Posts, Pages etc)?

Yes they are. And, just to see if I could get anything else to work, I tried adding Calendar to the widget area but that didn’t show up either. Another thing I tried was to change the number of posts to show up from 5 to 3. But, 5 still show up. Got any ideas for me?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Okay, I tried that. I only have one plugin which is Affiliate Converter. I deactivated it but still no go. Any more ideas?

Have you edited the Twenty Ten them at all?

Nope. The only thing that I have done differently was just a couple days ago when I was going to change up some of my widgets. I tried to add something to the primary widget area. Before I tried to do that, the Recent Posts, for example, were still showing up. After the change, neither the change or the Recent Posts or Categories etc showed up any longer. ???

Can you try removing all widgets from your sidebar?

    Thread Starter saumie

    (@saumie)

Okay, I tried that and when I went to the site, after removing all widgets, they are indeed gone. Then I added the original three back again and they show up fine. But, then I try adding “Calendar” just to see if it would take but, it didn’t work again. So, now what do I do….any more thoughts? I appreciate all your input.

Is this the default WordPress Calendar or is it a 3rd party plugin/widget? Does the order in which you add the widgets make any difference?

    Thread Starter saumie

    (@saumie)

Yep, this is the WordPress Calendar. Okay, here’s what I did based on your suggestion. Right now, I have three widgets in the Primary Widget Area. First I tried adding the calendar in the fourth position but it doesn’t show up on the site. Then I moved it up to the third spot which made the previously placed third widget, move down to the fourth spot. And now, all four widgets appear on the site. But, my issue is, I really don’t want the calendar in that third spot….I want it in the fourth spot. And, even though I put the Recent Posts in the Secondary Widget Area, it still doesn’t show up. What can you think of that is going wrong here? It was working a couple days ago and then all of a sudden….it wasn’t.

Try e-uploading a fresh copy of Twenty Ten.

Not real sure what you mean by e-uploading but I did upload a fresh version and it is the current edition. This is really getting to be a pain and I hope you can help me get to the bottom of it. I’m also noticing that anything I place in the Secondary Widget area or even any of the Footer Widget areas, don’t show up on the site either. Ideas?
