Widgets and categories not available

    Hello,

    before i begin, sorry for my poor English!

    Since the update to 1.9.9 – I can’t remember my previous version, it was greater than 1.8.6 – my widgets administration has shown a white screen like the White Screen of Death without any notes AND I could not open any category. The categories are listed like before, but a click on any category opens my 404 error page.

    After a downgrade to 1.8.6 I can work with my widgets again but the problem with the categories remains. All I get is the 404 error. The categories are still listed and editable. The single downloads are shown correctly.

    Please help me, the site contains some thousand downloads.

    Could you update to 1.9.9.2 and see if the issue goes away?

    Hello Pippin,

    I have tried 1.9.9.2 and nothing changes.

    I also have tried to deactivate all other plugins step by step without a result. Than I have changed the theme to the WordPress default twenty fourteen. After that I can see all EDD widgets but no other widgets and no sidebars. I had to downgrade again (1.8.6).

    Then I have switched between different themes and suddenly the categories are back! Now I have a working system with EDD 1.8.6. I don’t want to update it again before I know what really happended.

    I am grateful for any help!

    NEW ERROR!

    I just see that I can’t edit my pages anymore! Now the whitecreen appears when I click on Edit Page.

    After deactivating EDD 1.8.6 I can edit my pages again.

    Using Google Chrome, can you right click on the page and click “Inspect Element” and then click on the little red error icon in the bottom right? What are the errors?

    You will have to do this with the latest version installed.

    I have tried it. There are no errors shown. Just an empty HTML document. No red icon. The same with Firefox plus Firebug.
    I have temporary enabled debugging in the wp-config and now I see some errors similar to this (shortcodes):

    Notice: Undefined variable: add_css_animation in /www/htdocs/xxxxxx/wp-content/themes/DynamiX/lib/inc/shortcodes/toggle.php on line 86

    I can’t see a context with EDD but after deactivation everything works.

    I am working with the DynamiX-Theme and EDD for one and a half year but all errors are new since WP 3.9 and EDD 1.9.x.

    That notice is coming from your theme. Try switching to one of the default themes to see if the error goes away then.

    Once again, sorry for my poor english, but I have already posted: Then I have switched between different themes and suddenly the categories are back.

    After debugging I know that it is a theme problem, but the configuration EDD and DynamiX Theme was working nearly two years. This is what I don’t understand.

    However, I think that changing the theme is the best solution for me. But I have one other question before I have a lot of work. Is ist possible to insert a special category with a shortcode into a page? I.e. I want to display category XYZ wirh 20 items at once, can I do that? Or, if there is no shortcode available, with PHP?

    Thank you for your feedback, I’ll change the theme. I just found a theme with special EDD support and other features I need.
