are widgets other than those listed in theme acceptable? how are they transferred?

By acceptable I mean can I insert widgets into my wordpress website other than those listed in the theme? if so,how? i refer to widgets such as those offered by google. Thank tou.

You add extra widgets by installing plugins. Some plugins have widgets. Many don’t.
