    Hi,

First of all, thank you for making this wonderful plugin! Yes, it creates such interesting effects and features that gives pages tremendous impact, but what drew me to this one is that it’s easy to use, which means a lot when the people who is going to be using this are not tech savvy.

My question is that can I also use this tool for as a feature in my WordPress homepage? I guess what I really want to ask is if there’s a way to “widgetize” any or multiple Snowball blocks, so that I can use it on any area in my WordPress site (not just the home page)?

Thank you for your time! Cheers!

Hmm,answering my own question, I believe that the workaround for this one is use the text/HTML widget, which is a default widget in WordPress, & then copy-paste the HTML code(s) of the Snowball block(s) you want to add. Meanwhile, the CSS code should be copied & pasted in the style.css file.

Is that a correct way of doing this? Also, the problem with this is that editing the content of this “widget” is not going to be as simple as I would’ve like it to be, a concern especially when the people who will eventually use the website are, as I said, not tech savvy people. 🙁

    Hey!

We didn’t built Snowball with the intention of supporting widgets, just complete articles/posts. With that said, I’d be interested to learn more about what you want to do and support it if possible.

Which block types are you interested in “widgetizing”? For more basic blocks, copying the HTML and CSS code from the inspector would be one way to go about it, although ideally there’s an easier process.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi,

I’m building a website for the local branch of an international NGO dedicated to eliminating poverty. That mean that the local branch needs to use the same theme and overall look that the international NGO website has. But at the same time, the local branch wants to highlight their poverty-reduction projects in a more significant & expressive way than the theme from the international website can currently offer. To do this, they want to add an immersive article within their homepage while still adhering to the theme of their mother NGO.

I’m currently focusing on the splash, but that’s just the beginning as the other blocks are also interesting as well. Yes, I did copy the HTML & CSS code into a text/HTML widget, but I was hoping for a more non-technical, user-friendly solution.

Anyway, I do understand that it’s not Snowball’s intention to support widget. That’s okay, and I still think your plugin is great. Thank you for your reply! 🙂

I don’t recommend copy & pasting the code as a sustainable solution, but you do have the option to integrate a Snowball article with your theme, and then set that as the front page of your site.

To use your site’s theme, click the “gear” icon next to Preview/Update buttons while editing a Snowball article. Then uncheck the “Use Snowball theme” option.

Save your article, then go to your Settings > Reading menu. Under “Front page displays”, click the “A static page” option, and choose the Snowball article in the dropdown.

We’ve tested Snowball with the most popular themes, so they should play well together. But there might be small issues with other themes, though they can be corrected a little CSS.

    Hope this is helpful!

I’ll see if that’s a good solution. Thank you for your reply and suggestion! 🙂
