• I recently updated WordPress to Ver 3.8 and since then I have not been able to see the “Menus for Each and Every Widget”.

When I click the small “Down Arrow” of each and every widget, nothing happens. In the earlier wordpress version (before the update to 3.8), the widgets worked smoothly and I really need to get the services of widgets. Even the main navigational menu of of my website theme, runs as a custom menu and I am now unable to do any changes to the widgets.

    My website is,

I am quite helpless at the moment πŸ™

  • Hello,
I am facing the same issue, somebody throw a light on it.

Install JQuery Mega Menu and activate it. It doesn’t have to be visible -(i.e. don’t have it as a widget on the page) but it did solve my problems… Therefore – I think it is a javascript loading order problem…

Similar issue here. JQuery plugin did not solve it for me.

Would appreciate any and all insight. If solved, please come back and share your results.

    @theankush,

I found out that it is same as the following procedure.

Enabling the “Accessibility Mode” in the “Screen Options” at the top-right of the window, will give you the access to options of each and every widget in a separate individual window.

However, the problem is that it does not let us add desired widgets inside the theme specific widgets like “DW Accordion” and “DW Tabs”. (This option is valid only for DW Minion Theme by Design Wall)

And unfortunately, the JQuery Mega Menu did not solve any of the problems I had.

Yes you are right Pranath, I am using Designwall theme on my websites http://www.wattsay.com as well as http://www.freshjob.in , and rectified the eroor, still need to upgrade to newer stable theme. The url that I posted above, does the same, which clicking the screen options>> Accessibility does.

Upgraded to 3.8 but now in admin I can’t edit or add widgets, screen options dropdown and help link in top right don’t work, no widget areas or places to edit or add them appear to exist. Advice?

I am having exactly the same problem but not finding the answers or solution anywhere.

In 3.8 , wordpress came out with slight complex dashboard. If you are unable to edit or add widgets, just visit the given URL, once logged in the dashboard.

I am distressed that there is no fix for this! My blog is my business, and widgets are a necessary part of my earning tools. Why is there no fix, is this a rare problem, and if so, what can be causing it?

If you need help, I’d suggest posting your own thread as per the forum guidelines –

The solution posted by theankush does not work for me, and causes other problems in widget maintenance. All of the dropdown arrows disappear.

Installing “Use Google Libraries” plugin also had no effect.

It is definitely a plugin compatibility issue. I disabled all plugins and it started working properly. Enabling plugins one by one, I identified the “Widget Logic Visual” plugin as the culprit. I replaced that plugin with the older “Widget Logic” plugin, and it did not cause the problem, so I was able to get it working without losing any critical plugin functionality.

90% of the time I find that issues like this are caused by one plugin or another, so disabling all plugins then enabling them one at a time until the problem occurs is the best way to isolate the misbehaving plugin.

Hey Drop down easy in 3.8. When we create pages, we can see a drop down in right and Under page Attribute we can see parent. We can select parent of our menu. Once page created, go to appearance> Menu. there we can add each of the page to out custom menu. Select and add new menu under parent menu and click and drag a bit right. then save menu

I’ve found the solution using Jetpack.

Go to wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack and look for the tile titled “Widget Visibility”, then click Activate.
