I am a bit baffled that you have a template override with nothing but a single function in it.
If you are not exposing the markup and actual functions, something that we can fiddle with, than what is the point? Am I missing something?

It seems we have to figure out how to rebuild the page from scratch accessing your APIs. At that point we can just make our own page.

Not to be a complainer. You offer a great plugin with a free version, for which I thank you. Just curious what the thinking is here.

EM uses all the template files and don’t include function because it is handled by a separate php files so it is not scattered all over place and uses templates to handle it’s interface; can I know what functions are you looking for ?
