• I’m trying to add a (very short; 9 seconds) video to a blog post. I have not done this before, and something seems to be wrong. I don’t get any error message, but neither do I get a video in my draft post. I’ve tried using the ‘insert media’ function from several access points, but the same thing happens… nothing. It’s my own video, shot on my iPhone, if that makes any difference. I don’t know if it’s WP that needs fixing, or me.

    Thanks!

  • Hi @jennifernewbold
To add a video to a blog post in WordPress, you can use the “Add Media” button in the editor to upload the video to your media library and then insert it into your post. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Open the post editor and click the “Add Media” button.

    2. On the “Add Media” screen, click the “Upload Files” tab and then click the “Select Files” button to select the video file from your computer.

    3. Once the video file has been selected, it will be uploaded to your media library. You can edit the title and description of the video if you want and then click the “Insert into post” button to add the video to your post.

    4. The video will be added to your post as an embedded video player. You can resize the video player by clicking and dragging the edges of the player, or you can remove the video from the post by clicking the “Remove” button.

If you are having trouble adding the video to your post, there are a few things you can check:

    – Make sure that the video file is in a format that WordPress supports. WordPress supports various video file formats, including MP4, MOV, and OGV.

    – Check the size of the video file. If the file is too large, it may take a long time to upload or fail to upload altogether. If the file is too large, you can try compressing it or resizing it to a smaller size before uploading it to WordPress.

    – Make sure that you have enough storage space in your media library. If your media library is full, you may be unable to upload any new media files.

I hope this helps! Give it a try, and let me know how that goes! 😄

    Hi Faisal Ahammad,

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate you getting back to me so soon!

The ‘insert into post’ button does not seem to be doing anything. The video is already in my media library; it is an MOV file, and it’s only nine seconds long. If I click on it in the media library, it plays. But when I try to insert it into the post, nothing happens. There’s nothing there. It doesn’t appear on the post edit page, and it doesn’t appear in the preview. I tried copying the URL from the media library and pasting that in the post, but that didn’t work either. I can insert a photo into a post without a problem, but not this little video. Any other ideas…?

OMG. I figured out the problem: I had to give the video a name in order for it to be inserted, because it needed that descriptor for the URL link!

Problem solved (and I feel like a dummy).

    Thanks!
