    Hello
I am frustrated at how narrow my website looks:
    http://aberfoodblog.com/ultracomida
See? Most of the page is white space.
I would like it to actually fit the page, but note that changing this seems to be tricky (well, editing .css stylesheets might not be “trick”, but it’s not like changing a Word document).
I briefly changed to 2013 theme, and that seemed even worse.
Before I get too into changing it, is there a reason the pages are so narrow – eg is it help them display on mobiles?
If not, why are they designed like this?
My screen is only 1280px wide yet the pages seem more like 640px.
    Thanks very much
    Tony

Is there an easy way to widen the blog, or can anyone recommend a theme that would suit me better.
    “Life Is Simple”?
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    It’s very odd.
There’s a big grey block down the middle of the page – how do I get the text to fill that block?

    I’m using 2011 Theme – might 2012 or 2013 be better?
Am I talking to myself here – help, I’m drowning…

Yes, the width of a layout is theme-specific. If you aren’t happy with how a theme looks, certainly try another one (or more). Or you can also modify a theme, but you’d need to do so using a Child Theme so that your changes are not lost when the theme is updated –

Thank you for the advice, WPyogi

Beyond this width business, I’m very happy with the layouts.
What are the key values I need to change – is it max-width=690px?
I see there are various width settings that mentions percentages, are any of those useful too?
Thank you again for your help

    PS I’m using

    @import url(“../twentythirteen/style.css”);

to pull in the current theme – but of course that gives me no parameters to change.
Should I just copy the whole of the parent style.css in then edit that, or add in the parameters that I want to change from parent to child?
    Thanks very much again

Just copy the styles you want to change and then change them in your Child Theme style.css file.

Thank you, that’s looking much better now.
I have a final question, but will open a new query…
