• Good Morning, I have been having problems since yesturday morning, now 24hours on and still not functioning!

I got the WSOD. Tried disabling plugins, tried default theme. Nothing.

Tried WP_Debug this morning and I was breifly able to log in to admin panel.

When I try and view my site I get this:

“Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in /var/www/web/wp-content/themes/vantage/inc/menu.php on line 97”

Anyone know what I should do? I only know HTML and CSS, im not a dev!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

  • @si_brooks,

The error message clearly shows that the problem is coming from the “vantage” theme you’re using. So switching themes SHOULD fix it — unless a DIFFERENT error occurs with the new theme.

So let’s give it another go.

    1) Please switch to the default theme again and test.

    2) If the problem persists, please clear your browser’s cache and test again

    3) If the problem still persists, open the site in a different browser or on another computer and test

    4) If the problem still persists, temporarily disable any caching plugins you’re using (if you use CloudFlare, purge all pages and go into development mode). Then test again.

    5) And if the problem STILL persists, check your debug tool for the error message. I’m 100% it will be a DIFFERENT error than the one you gave earlier.

    Hello,

I’m a complete newbie in terms of this stuff and just updated my WP only for a white screen to appear.

Can anybody walk me through how to get into my admin panel as that won’t load either?

Nothing is coming up on Chrome’s javascript panel and the site won’t load on iOS Safari browser either.

    Many thanks.

google disabling plugins and resetting theme in the database if you can’t access the admin dashboard.

    Cheers Jack,

How would I access the database, is that available via the FTP directory?

    Cheers.

    @george

Thanks for all of your help, it was a problem with my theme.

I used WP_debug, to source the error.

    Cheers!
