Where to start

Hi, What videos, if any, could be recommended to watch on how to get started developing with WordPress? I have no clue what I’m doing. I’m trying to build a very simple, 1-page website to test out an idea. I’ve been able to upload pictures and some text, but I can’t figure out how to get everything where I want it to go on the actual page. When I click on Preview, the page is all jumbled and I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how to get things where I want them. Should a beginner like me, just use something, which I believe is supposed to be easier like Squarespace or Wix or whatever? I thought WordPress would be simple plug and play, but this thing makes no sense at all to a beginner like me. Thank you for your help!!
