I made a change to my side bar editor
(pasted a twitter application text at the end, then deleted it)
Are you saying you used the Dashboard Editor to edit a file named something like ‘sidebar.php’?
The simplest way to repair a theme edit that has gone badly is to replace the edited file with a copy of its backup or with a fresh copy from a new copy of the theme.

Yes, I pasted something into side bar php, it was fine. But when I deleted it, I lost everything except the header. Now I have only the header:
tingleypeppermintpot.com
Do I have to replace the whole thing, and loose everthing I’ve done on the site?
You likely deleted something extra in sidebar.php so I would just try reuploading that one file via ftp for now

Thanks for your reply!
Right, ooer, I think I know how to do that: is it just a case of opening my port, and then moving side php from left to right please?
i’m sorry i’m not familiar with my port, is that your ftp software?

Yes; on filezilla, they ask for your port.

port is usually ok to leave blank (default gets used)
if you dont know or are having trouble with the settings your host should be able to provide you with all of the appropriate settigns
