Where can we get urgent wordpress support..?

    Are there forums other than this one where people provide support? We fully appreciate that support here comes from kind volunteers, and we’re grateful, but there are time when we need assistance as a priority – like tonight – and it’s very slow coming. If there are alternative forums, please can people advise me so I can ask the questions in a variety of places and hopefully get things resolved more quickly

    I posted this upgrade issue six hours ago and still haven’t had a response. Events in my country are escalating and are at a critical phase and of all the times we need a reliable publishing medium it’s now!

    And I posted this two weeks ago – we’ve since cobbled a solution which fixed the main problem but it has disabled other features.

    We actually upgraded to 2.1.2 in the hope of resolving this issue but not only did it not fix it, its made our problems worse.

    Please, I emphasize that we respect and are grateful for all open source assistance from kind people – but we really need to be able to explore other avenues at critical times like these. Please can you tell us where we can get that kind of support.

    There isn’t anywhere else much unless you find some of the “not English” fora, there’s German, Spanish, French etc. Or if you find one of the lists at http://lists.automattic.com/mailman/listinfo – though I truthfully do not know that you’ll get any answers any faster there.

    The pro mailing list will have people looking at mails on it who may be willing to provide help for payment.

    And other than that…. this is it, sorry. I would suggest you post a mail to the pro list that indicates you’d be willing to pay for support in emergencies (if you are) and see if you can work out a deal with someone.

    [Edit: there is now one response to your first issue; I have no installations or upgrades using 2.1+ so I can’t help you with that, sorry.]

    Fair enough. We looked into paying, but our country has hyperinflation at 1800% (not joking). Even token international costs tend to work out at several times the monthly minimum wage here.

    Not that we don’t think it’s deserved – we just can’t dream of paying it. Which is why we use open source stuff. It’s the only way we can keep going.

    Thanks for the advice. We’ve managed to get help from our host – am about to go update and close one of the issues raised right now.

    Well, that’s sad and too bad. I sure hope your host will continue to be helpful then….
