Where are the themes?

I’ve finally gotten wordpress installed and am going through the First Steps to familiarize myself with all the options. Where are the hundreds of themes people keep talking about? In the Dashboard when I click on Appearance and then Themes all I get are twenty eleven and twenty ten.
