I thoroughly examined the issue you have raised on this topic and could not see it on my end; please check the attached screenshots at this link: https://postimg.cc/gallery/LM8pHyM.
Please ensure OceanWP theme and Ocean Extra plugin are in the latest version.
Then head over to the Customization > Footer Bottom, and try to re-type the copyright text with your desired shortcode.
Now, save all changes on Customizer.
Then recheck the front end.

@skalanter If we need to install Ocean Extra. Why you not just combine it into the theme? Its really bad for user experience. If the feature is not available then disable it without Ocean Extra. Many of us dont want to install Ocean Extra because its bloated and has too many problems (just read the reviews). But Ocean theme is awesome though.

That shortcode’s functionality is in Ocean Extra.
These features, like oceanwp_date, cannot be in the theme; it’s a WordPress rule for themes.
If you don’t want to install Ocean Extra, then the “[oceanwp_date]” will not have functionality and doesn’t work. But if you need it without Ocean Extra, you can find that function on the internet and add that functionality to your customization, then you’ll have your own shortcode.
