You’ll have to link us to it so we can give you a more accurate answer, but I’d assume just look for the code in index.php of your theme.

the home page is usually generated by index.php or home.php of the theme;
have a look into these template files.
without seeing the problem, there is not much help to offer.

It looks like the bottom portion is a custom query for past or “featured” posts.
Really your best bet is to check your index.php and see what its calling. What are you trying to change it to have?
not looking to change the framework , just want to edit the content…I changed the pictures in the slide show and was hoping the content of the bottom half would be just as easy
Well there’s a few possibilities. It could be older posts, featured posts, or some sort of widget area thats calling posts.
