What software does WordPress use for their forums

Really odd questions. But the forum layout is fantastic. Very easy to read and sort and get to. Can anyone tell me (if this is opensource) what software is used by WordPress for forums?

I tried installing it a while ago and couldn’t even get it to work. It’s nice stuff, but not quite ready to be used in forums…
