what server permission settings?

    I thought i had a database problem but i think it is all ok from what i have been told. my problem is my server permission settings.
    I am asuming i need to change the permissoins on the folder that the website/blog folders will be in.

    here is a screen shot of what options i can change on this folder. the letters just dont really give me much insight as to what checking or unchecking it will do…

    r=read, w=write, x=execute.

    Basically, you want your permissions like this:

    All directories need read,execute for the “web server user” and read,write,execute for you, the owner.

    All files, need read for the “web server user” and read,write for you, the owner.

    Whether the “web server user” is in your group or in the “others” group, I can’t tell you. Ask your host, if you’re not sure.
