what next after uploading template?

    I uploaded a template and I have no clue what to do next…How do I view it etc….Do I go to wordpress.com?
    I’m signed up w/ WP.org and have 1&1 as my host. Using filezilla also
    I managed to follow the download and install instructions for WP. Everything looked good, but now I am triing to figureout what’s next. I am sooo lost and confused, I have been on the computer for 5 hours triing to figure this out.

    For example: After I uploaded the theme, I went to wp.com to find it and it’s no where to be found. Am I looking in the wrong spot?
