What exactly are archives ?

    For SEO purposes, I want to disable my archives from being indexed and I have the All-In-One SEO plugin for that, but what exactly are they ?

    On this page: http://www.hannahmontanazone.com/Funky I have made it so it displays the posts in category ‘funky’ for example. Is this considered an archive, because that’s what it says on the top.

    As a first reaction I’d say that anything that isn’t on the index(.php) or shown with the single.php is regarded as archived. So whether you are looking inside the (monthly) archive, categories, tags, use the search function, WP will use the archive.php for the layout.
    (If I’m incorrect, anyone should feel free to correct me.)
