• Got a call this afternoon that our website was not working. When I checked it out, it was pretty much useless, almost all links were dead. When I went into WordPress to check it, all pages and uploads had disappeared. Most of the links were inoperative. Only thing left were posts, and some of those were gone, too.

The home page is up, what’s left of it, and there are a couple of other pages working. But most are now dead links. The page files are gone along with the upload files.

Your blog is infested with spam. Look at the source code. You’re also running an exploitable version of WordPress,

ok, but were they hacked? thats what we cant seem to figure out. the site doesnt work, they havent upgraded things since the dinosaurs roamed the planet, and there are spam links.

thanks, I will pass that on to the guy trying to fix it. Is there anyway to recover the missing files, or are they just hidden in there somewhere?

Files – as in WP files, aka the engine of your blog and the template files of the theme are always replaceable.

However no content is in files ever. All your content (Pages, posts, comments, settings) are in the database.

So, what files are you missing?

Exactly, and can you use phpmyadmin to look at your database?
