Website vanished after editing wp-config.php

    Okay, some background…

    I tried (unsuccessfully, but that’s another story) to install mediawiki at the subdomain http://wiki.shadowgum.co.uk.

    In the process, I changed my database password. I then noticed that I couldn’t access shadowgum.co.uk: I got the error “Error Establishing a Database Connection”, even if I tried to get in through wp-login.php

    I found this page which suggests adding an extra line to wp-config.php. That didn’t work, but then I found the real solution: wp-config.php still had my old database password. So, I removed the line I’d just added, and replaced the password.

    However, now the entire site’s gone. Just blank, no matter where I go. Clearly something’s gone wrong, but I don’t know what.

    Resolved: missed an apostrophe when I fixed the password. Thank heaven for error logs!

    Still leaves me with my botched Mediawiki installation, but hey, that’s for another troubleshooting forum 😉
