• I sent this to WordPress a couple of days ago and have not received a reply, so I’m sending this request for help again.

I sent this email to Photocrati this morning and wanted to send it to WordPress as well. I bought the right to use a Photoocrati WordPress Theme and I’m not happy with how slow the images load on the pages. So far, I’ve only created a home page with 18 thumbnails, a contact page and Joy page with a single image on each page, and I’ve added text via Facebook to add a like button on my blog page.
When I load the site itself, it takes about 7-8 seconds to load and then it takes another 16-17 seconds to load the thumbnails. That’s too slow.
When I work on my dashboard it takes forever for the edits to take place and often when it’s done it alerts me that their are errors.

I’m really frustrated and I’ve been in contact with Photocrati a few times and all I get back is they can’t see any problems.

I tried visiting the site this morning and it took a bit before it loaded. Once the home page loaded it took way too long for the thumbnails to be displayed. When I click on the Contact page, it loaded quickly but the image took forever to load. Same thing happens when click the Joy page. The single image takes forever to load. On the Blog page my Facebook Like Button takes forever to appear. Somethings not right.
I have another website http://www.jcpetography.ca that is also hosted with Netfirms and I also view through Windows Internet Explorer and it loads fast. Switching pages is instantaneous and images load very fast, so speed is not an issue through Netfirms or Windows Internet Explorer.
Even when I’m making edits to my new site on my Dashboard it’s painfully slow. It’s just not acceptable. I think its the template, maybe its corrupted or something.
    What next,

  • Without seeing your site it’s kind of difficult to comment. Also your other site isn’t a WordPress site so you can’t really compare the two.

It may be the theme and it may not be. There could be other factors affecting the speed such as plugins, caching etc.

You could always try another theme to see if your current theme is actually the ‘problem’. However if even making edits in your dashboard is slow, that would suggest it may not be the theme, and could be your web hosting setup or something else.
