Website is slow
-
My website http://www.amsterdamsehonden.nl is really slow. I’m using smush it for images and some other optimise plugins, but that didn’t really help. What else can it be? My hosting (by Hostnet) should be fine.

I don’t have an extensive amount of experience with Hostnet, but my first instinct would be that it is in fact a hosting problem. Did your site suddenly get slow, or has it been slow since you launched?
I use HostGator for all of my sites and I’ve been fairly pleased overall. I do know one time that they had a server malfunction and my sites were extremely slow temporarily, but it was fixed within the hour.
It has been kind of slow since I started.
But… I have 3 websites hosted by Hostnet. The others are definitely less slow. So I’m hoping to find something fixable. It would be a pain to transfer all the websites…
Slowness/high CPU usage could be due to (but not limited to):
– a poor or memory intensive theme
– poor or memory intensive plugins
– your server is slow (e.g., “process hang”, overload, other problems, etc.)
Start with reading this article (and follow the links):

– also view this WP tv tutorial: http://wordpress.tv/2013/02/28/vinay-paudel-optimizing-and-speeding-up-a-wordpress-site/I’ve read a lot of those websites/articles, but I guess I didn’t like the outcome 😉
I don’t think it could be the theme, but I do use a lot of plugins. So I will watch the video now.
The P3 thing looks great too, I will try that as well.
Thanks a lot!
I don’t think it could be the theme,
What theme do you use?
but I do use a lot of plugins.
– Try removing unnecessary ones.
– Also, you tary WP Total Cachy pluginI use Nimble by Elegantthemes.
I have already deleted unnecessary plugins, but the rest of them I do use.
I have W3 Total Cache, is it the same plugin?
Tried the P3 plugin and I don’t know what the consequences of the runtime of plugins are, if they directly affect the loading time of the website. But I know what plugins I would have to get rid of:
– Websimon Tables (in the graph it fills up about 50%, but it’s still only 1,7 seconds)
– bbPress (23%, but cannot get rid of it)
– JigoShop (9%)Oh, I forgot: It DOES say plugin impact on website is 82,8%.
The website takes more than a few seconds to load though…
What happens if you switch to the default 2012 theme and deactivate all plugins?
There is no such theme as Nimble in the WP theme repository. You may want to contact the theme vendor.
Hmm, I always use their themes and they have great support and (I think) really funcional themes.
http://www.elegantthemes.com/. You think I should contact them and ask them why my website is slow?
I’m a bit scared to switch to the 2012 theme, but there aren’t any risks right?
No – the changes should all be temporary
How can I speed up my game on my slow http://www.oyun37.com address?
Could it also be because of not updating plugins?
After getting rid of some, my slowest plugin is now taking 1.4 seconds according to P3. Is this slow/a problem? Of am I going to look elsewhere for the problem?
I’ve already contacted the theme vendor and I’m going to watch the optimizing video now.
