Website inaccessible after installing plugin (v3.1)

I installed the plugin for the first time (v3.1) for a few tests and ran into a lot of trouble afterward (blank home page and bad gateway among them). Situation solved by deactivating the plugin manually. Suspecting compatibility or security issue.
