    Hi all

Anytime I try to access my website http://www.stfranciscollege-rochestown.ie I get the following message

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘”‘ in /home/stfranci/public_html/wp-content/themes/blogolife/functions.php on line 55

I also get the same message if I try to login through my wp-admin panel so I can edit the site. I did try to add code to the function.php file earlier which caused the mess in the first place but now I can’t login to wp-admin.

I can access the cpanel and gain access to the function.php for the blogolife theme from there.

Any ideas on how I go resolving this issue. It’s the website for our school so I need it back ASAP !! Arrrrrgggghh!!

    Thanks

  • Try just replacing the functions file with a fresh copy (provided that it hasn’t been modified by you too much). If it has, keep a copy and compare the files for changes so you can bring back anything you need.

You should always start with a child theme before you make changes to a theme.

    Hi Bill

I went to https://wordpress.org/themes/blogolife/ and downloaded the original functions.php file from there and just pasted the contents into the functions.php in my cpanel and saved it.

    Hey presto !! It worked

    Thanks for the help.

    Topic resolved & back online.

    Cheers

It’s not quite magic, but it feels like it. 🙂 Glad you’re back on track.
