I plan to set up VPI on a news site with a responsive theme (not AMP, no separate mobile theme) running on LiteSpeed Enterprise.
According to what I was able to find: VPI analyzes pages at 1300×900 (desktop) and 480×800 (mobile) and that the mobile VPI requires Cache Mobile to be ON, otherwise it is ignored.
My question: with a responsive theme and Cache Mobile OFF, does VPI generate and apply only the desktop viewport list to all visitors (including mobile)? Or does it still detect mobile viewport images and apply them correctly even without Cache Mobile?
On a responsive news site, above-the-fold content differs significantly between desktop (article + sidebar thumbnails) and mobile (article only, sidebar stacked below). If VPI only uses the desktop list for mobile visitors, it would exclude unnecessary sidebar images from lazy load on mobile… not ideal.
Want to confirm before I consider enabling Cache Mobile solely for proper VPI functionality.

I saw your question in Slack , then it is gone after I read the code to reply 🙂

but here is the answers : yes, it does require cache mobile to enabled , in order to prepare 2 sets of VPI , one for desktop , one for mobile.
