Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention! I’ll def make sure the Lead Dev @danieliser takes a look.
@streamworksaudio – Not sure we can have it both ways. The problem is that popups are not a public post type. VC only shows public post types in the list that you see in your VC options. Because of this there is no way for us to enable it optionally, only by force using a filter to turn it on permanently.
I haven’t seen the latest version of VC but the last I checked there were no relevant filters we could tap into to do this. I’ve never used it outside of testing for compatibility so I don’t have access to the latest versions to keep testing.
PS The current solution was provided by a user who wanted it to work on VC and found a hackish way to do it. So if we can find a better way we are open to changing it.

No worries, like I say this is not a show stopper. Just something I noticed.
Is ‘popup’ the registered post type? This one does show up in VC’s list as to which post types to show the VC editor on.
